My girlfriend and I have been watching Season 1 of 24 on DVD recently. This is an excellent show and the only thing I’m disappointed about is that I just discovered this show five years after it first aired on FOX. This is the beauty of the recent releases of television shows onto DVD coupled with Netflix. Releasing television shows to DVD within 1 or 2 years after the season aired is a great way to attract fringe television viewers such as myself. If I had to have waited for syndication, it is unlikely I would be watching 24 (even with my TIVO).

24 has done a great job of keeping me interested. I’m always very excited when a new set of episodes arrives via Netflix. When I want to watch television, it is nice to know that I can always go back in time and catch up on “classic” shows and watch them commercial free on my schedule! Kudos to the television industry for altering their release and distribution cycles in order to promote TV viewing through DVDs.
