Today I was thinking about ways to tighten the Burrp.com launch schedule. There is so much we have to get accomplished before we push out an alpha to our set of early release users. I was extremely happy with our progress of content boot strapping. I thought we were extremely well organized, efficient, and highly effective. Unfortunately not all of that transitioned to our other efforts. We moved along well in certain areas while we were constantly trying to catch up in others. We got in a comfort zone and did not adapt our strategy from the content boot strapping phase to other areas of development. Some how our cheese got moved!
For those of you that don’t know what cheese is, be sure to check out Spencer Johnson’s Who Moved My Cheese? . The marketing department at a company I worked for gave this book out to everyone two years ago. It is a great book that talks about dealing with, adapting to, and embracing change. Though a lot of it is common sense, sometimes you need to hear it either through someone else’s voice or delivered through a story. I recently reread this book and the topic of adaptation and anticipation of change were fresh on my mind. I just told everyone on the team to pick up a copy on the book and use the story to help refocus ourselves. Hopefully we can come out of this minor slump with guns blazing and a newly ignited fire in our bellies!!! Over the next couple of weeks I should be able to evaluate the impact of the book on the team.

1Its time to read this one again. I ran into the book the other day when I opened my boxes loaded with books that we had shipped from the US.
