After the long awaited release to DVD, I finally finished Season 2 of Entourage. I have to admit that I miss the shallowness and happy-go-lucky vibe of Season 1. I have to deal with enough complex people in my day to day life, so why can’t I just enjoy simple womanizing characters who like to party? After all, isn’t television somewhat of an escape from reality? When I choose to be mentally challenged by television I’ll stick with my KQED favorites (News Hour, Charlie Rose, Frontline, Nightly Business Report).
Why is that critics almost beg for this cliché “vulnerable” character type? Frankly I don’t want to see that shit. The storyline with Vince being “crushed” by Mandy Moore is horrible. In addition, all the in fighting was too much. A fight here and there I can see, but the writers took it over the top. I would much rather see the guys hang out like normal guys and not fight like a bunch of insecure school girls.
I do have to say thank god for Drama and Turtle. The comic relief provided by those characters is much better developed in Season 2. I really enjoyed the storyline of Drama trying to get calf implants and getting a hard on while doing a scene with Brooke Shields on a TV movie set.
Though I was disappointed with several aspects of the writing in Season 2, I still think this is the best show on television. I still plan on watching Season 2 in the background while I work. I’ll take a bad episode of Entourage over most the crap on TV, especially those horrible procedural cop shows that have polluted television.

1Anand-
You should try Arrested Development. My husband and I are on Season 1 and it’s hella funny.
